Lent is the period leading up to Easter, when Christians remember the 40 days that Jesus spent in the wilderness — a chance to be intentional in focussing on our relationship with God. Obviously this is something that we are called to year round, but some people find it helpful to have a specific focus for a period of time.
We’re delighted this year to have a wonderful range of resources available through the free PrayerMate app, thanks to some great organisations. We hope you find them encouraging and stimulating throughout this season, and that they help you grow deeper in your walk with God. Click the links below to subscribe, or find the “Add +” page in the app and scroll to “Lent 2018”.

SIM World Prayer Guide
The vision of SIM is to see a witness to Christ’s love where He is least known, disciples of Jesus expressing God’s love in their communities, and Christ-centred churches among all peoples. Through Lent 2018, this guide is to inform, inspire and invite readers like you to pray for SIM ministries and workers all around the world.
Diocese of Salisbury Praying Together
Praying Together is a framework for shared daily prayer for the season. This is a simple pattern which can be followed in a time as short five or ten minutes to as much as half an hour. It can be used by individuals or in groups. For each day in Lent, there is a very short bible reading, a reflection, prayer and suggested action. Subscribe here.
The Glory of the Cross (Tim Chester)
This Lent, prepare your heart with 47 days of short and stirring reflections from the Gospel of John. These daily readings by Tim Chester present deep theology in a concise and understandable way, allowing you to soak up the real meaning of Christ’s death and resurrection.
This feed is a bit different to anything we’ve tried previously — available free of charge to people who have already bought a copy of the book elsewhere (ebook or hard copy) — just forward your proof of purchase to get access. Subscribe here.
Learning to Pray (Linda Allcock)
When Jesus’ disciples wanted to learn how to pray, they were able to just ask him to teach them. The good news for us is that they wrote down what he said in Matthew 6:5–15. In this 14 day plan, Linda Allcock guides us through the Lord’s Prayer and helps us learn to pray with Jesus. Subscribe here.
31 Days of Purity (Tim Challies & Mike Leake)
You are invited to 31 Days of Purity — thirty-one days of thinking about and praying for sexual purity. Each day features a short passage of Scripture, a reflection on that passage, and a brief prayer. Subscribe here.
Ongoing feeds
The final two feeds are available year round and update each week — but Lent would be a great time to start using them if you’ve not discovered them already.
Awakening Prayer Guide (Ligonier Ministries)
We live in a world that needs awakening. What is awakening? It is a powerful movement of the Spirit of God to convert many people to Christ and to renew in His church a zeal for His truth, for spiritual growth, and for missions. When just two men — Paul and Silas — prayed, the earth itself shook (Acts 16:25–26). This feed from Ligonier Ministries exists to help guide you in prayer for awakening. Imagine what might happen if we joined together to pray fervently for a mighty movement of God’s Spirit today.
Ambassador’s Prayer Journey (Diocese of London)
Transform your prayer life by committing to pray for people working and living for Christ in their daily lives — wherever they are called to serve. From cleaners to software designers, from TV and film to social work, from those looking for work to those in retirement, each week pray for people seeking to live as ambassadors for Christ there.
